February three day school: Join a group of up to 8 enthusiastic potters in Penicuik. Beginners welcome.

Monday Feb 20th, Tuesday 21st and Friday 24th. 2012. 10 am - 3 pm daily

Throwing, handbuilding, raku firing. Beginners welcome.

Jane Kelly trained at Wimbledon, Norwich and Medway Schools of Art.  With a diploma in ceramics she has long experience as a working studio potter, as an adult pottery teacher at Edinburgh’s Cannonball House & South Bridge, as Scottish Potters Association exhibitions organiser, and lending a hand in many community groups.  Much valued and enjoyed, her Pottery Summer Schools are normally taken up well in advance.

 Jane currently chairs the Scottish Potters Association.

Penicuik Pottery at Valleyfield House is well-equipped.

There are several electric wheels, a kick wheel, a vertical pug mill, a gas kiln, an electric kiln, and an efficient and portable Raku kiln.

The clays used are grey stoneware for reduction or oxidised ware, red earthenware for slipware, white earthenware, porcelain and raku.
